Climate Sensor Network for Maui’s Cloud Forest

Summary

How are climate conditions changing from forest to alpine zone on Haleakalā, Maui’s highest peak? This project supports ongoing operation and maintenance of HaleNet, a high-resolution sensor array on Maui that tracks changes in climate and resultant impacts on ecosystems. The goal of this project was to ensure continued operation and maintenance of the HaleNet climate and ecosystem monitoring network, including field operations, data communication improvements, data analysis, and dissemination of results. The high resolution data produced by HaleNet is critical to the climate models for Maui island, and support analyses of ecological change in response to climate variables such as temperature and rainfall.
